Riders warm-up for Qatar International Show Jumping Championship     
 DOHA – In a busy day at the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) with the kick off of the seventh edition of Qatar International Show Jumping Championship warm-up rounds, at the Federation's indoor and main arena located at the Al-Rayyan Park, in the outskirts of Racing and Equestrian Club (REC) on Tuesday, 6 March 2007.

 After the horse inspection, technical meeting and a draw on Monday, the horses from different bred gathered at the two arenas for warm-ups.

 The day witnessed about 250 mix bred horses, lined-up for routine jumps and walk, in the arenas.

 On Wednesday, the junior Class 1A – Art.238.2.2 Table A round one with Jump Off, Height 1.05m will get underway at the Indoor Arena starting 11:00hrs (local time).

 The junior competition starting from 11:00-13:30hrs will mark the opening of the National championship in A1 category for Fence height – 105cm, Spread – 115cm and speed – 325m/m with the prize money QR 12,000 for grabbing.

 In the second round for National championship which starts 14:00-16:00hrs, competition 1 for juniors and young riders on Table A with one Jump-Off as per Article (238.2.2) for fences on height – 120cm, spread – 140cm and speed – 350m/m, each rider will be allotted with two horses to get hold of QR 12,000.

 In all, 26 horses will partake in the competition, including five from Saudi Arabia, one from Oman and twenty from Qatar.

 The QR 30,000, International competition No.2, of two phases compatible to article (274.5.3) for height 120cm, spread – 140cm and speed 350m/m, with only two horses per rider. As scheduled the competition begins 16:30hrs till 18:30hrs, followed by competition no.3 the six bars competition as per article (262.3.1 – 3.4) to get over the fences height of 120cm, two horse per rider and prize money QR 30,000.

 A technical meeting will be held at 21:30hrs.

 Ten Qatar horses are lined-up for the Competition in two phases for height 1.20m in the main arena, alongside horses from UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Belgium, Jordan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Oman, Philippines and Bahrain.

 Qatar the Equestrian Federation are privileged to host the event which also goes alongside the Qualification for 2008 Olympic Games and FEI World Cup in the first time of Asian Continents history.

 "Federation is privileged to be honoured with the Qualification of 2008 Olympic Games be held in the sideline of the Qatar International Show Jumping Championship, which has never happened in this region or even in Asia," said Nawaf Al-Ali - Championship Director.

 Federation has also increased the prize money as QR 490,000 for the championship.

 "As compared to the previous competitions, the federation has improved the prize money to QR 490,000 which has surely attracted more participants from Europe and GCC," explained Al-Ali.

 Qatar has great chance to win in the event and also to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games as suggests the previous records including gold in the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006.

 "Riders from Qatar are well equipped and experienced, gold medal in the Asian Games here in Doha 2006 was a great achievement for Qatar, this time we have good chances to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games," added Al-Ali.

 The permanent support from The Emir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and The Heir Apparent, HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani has led from the upfront for Qatar's success.

 "We are grateful to the Emir and the Heir Apparent for their continuous support in the success of Qatar in sports, the Emir was present when Qatar won gold in the 15th Asian Games and he smiled. The Heir Apparent is always in coordination with the Federation and has all the updates on the proceedings," Nawaf said.

 QEF is also requesting the locals and expatriates to come and witness the beauty of the show jumping championship, eventually speculating a significance of a life time.
