Qatar International Show Jumping kicks off
DOHA – The seventh edition of Qatar International Show Jumping Championship kicks off on Tuesday, 6 March 2007, in the outskirts of the Equestrian and Racing Club here at the Al-Rayyan Park.

The six-day event will witness 250 horses participating from the National, GCC and other countries.

Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) will organise the event under the guidance and leadership of Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC) and International Equestrian Federation (FEI).

Higher Organising Committee of the Championship will be headed by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al-Thani – President of QEF and chairman of the Organising Committee, alongside Nawaf Al-Ali – Championship Director, and Ahmed Al-Badawi – Technical Secretary of QEF.

The Organising Committee is all geared up and has made all obligatory arrangements in hosting the event with sheer success.

In the last event (Sixth edition) held on 13 February 2005, Ahmed A Ameen of the United Arab Emirates made his trip to Doha a memorable one when he won the Grand Prix title, and a Mitsubishi ‘Outlander’ car, on the concluding day of the Sixth Qatar International Show Jumping Championships at the Al Rayyan Park.

Ameen rode his mount Caleeto to a splendid victory, outsmarting 25 other competitors, getting a big applause from the goodly crowd that turned out at the QEF headquarters.
Saudi Arabian riders also did well as they claimed the second and third positions.

Abdullah Al Sharbatly executed a series of faultless jumps on Ivoor to take the second place and pocket QR 25,000 while Prince Faisal Al Shaalan steered Rathwan to the third place to win QR 21,000
