 H.H. the Emir's Second Obstacles Jumping Kickstarts Monday

Doha, March 08, 2010- The Preliminary stage of the competitions of H.H. the Emir's second obstacles jumping championship organized by Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) on march 8-9 and with the participation of more than 80 horsemen and horsewomen .

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday ,Chairman of the QEF rashid al mansouri explained the details of such a championship which the QEF was keen to make it completely distinguished and different from its precedent as far as the participation of the studs and farms as the participation has reached to 50 per cent for the first time in addition to the high level of the technical standard of the horsemen and their horses they compete win the most precious local championships.

Al Mansouri told reporters that the competition is aimed at getting the private sector and plantation owners, and studs involved for the enrichment of the QEF''s activity and to develop the technical capabilities of their knights through their participation in fierce competitions of the best qatari knights and under the supervision of international technical committees in the organization and arbitration.

These committees are to group the best cadres from outside the State with a view to ensuring impartiality and transparence in the arbitration process, especially as the tournament includes a big number of knights from the qatari different teams , Al-Mansouri told reporters. He pointed out that Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) is the first supporter of this championship and is part of the committees in charge of organisation and management.

Touching on Qatar''s golden team sponsored by the QEF , Al Mansouri said the Golden team will participate in that tournament, which will be part of its preparation for participation in the Kentucky World Championship plus the Asian Games “Asiad” which will be held this year in China.

Faor his part, Secretary General of Qatar Equestrian Federation(qef) Taleb Al-Sa''aq outlined the details of the tournament, which will start tomorrow, with the qualifying phase which qualifies for the participate in the Cup of the Olympic Committee which competitions will be held in the first day of the tournament .

He also told reporters that the number of registered participants from the young knights reached 55 while the number of participants in the Open-class horseman reached to 30. Elaborating he indicated that this is a large number if compared to the first tournament and said, "The youth will compete at a height of 125 cm in the playoffs .. and in the second phase, which will be held in the first day of the tournament , they will compete for 135 cm .

On the closing day it will be of 140 cm , he told reporters and noted that the participation will be open to all categories . Such a height is appropriate and will step up the power of competition among the knights in this tournament.
