DOHA: The Qatari team, comprising of Ali Yousef Al Rumaihi, Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani, Bader Mohammed Al Darwish and Mubarak Y Al Rumaihi are placed on the top of the team classification in the second days’ action in the Sixth Qatar International Show Jumping Championship at the Al Rayyan Park here yesterday.

Taking into consideration the three best results of each round, the Qatari team has cumulated time of 192.83 and they clinched the Teams Cup as well as the prize money of QR 50,000.
Saudi Arabia are second in 204.17. The Saudi team members are Prince Fahd bin Soud Al Shalan, Khaled A Al Eid,

Fahad Al Eid and Abdulla W Al Sharbatli.
In the Yusuf bin Ahmed Al Rumahai Cup competition yesterday, UAE’s Mohammed Al Kumeiti took the top honours, riding his horse Al Bareeq to victory in a time of 37min and 55 sec.

Abdulla Al Sharbatly and Fahed Al Eid, both from Saudi Arabia, finished second and third respectively. Abdulla rode Ivoor while Fahed was astride Al Ezz.
Qatar’s Ali Yousef Al Rumaiahi was fourth atop Corona.
In a late event on Tuesday, Jordan’s Ibrahim Besharat piloted his horse Chico to victory in the Al Jida Cup.

The Al Jida Cup carries a prize money of QR25,000.

The Championship will continue till Saturday and the four main events yet to be decided are the Qatar Equestrian Federation Cup, the Qatar National Olympic Committee Cup (Masters), the Asian Equestrian Federation Cup and the Mitsubishi Cup (Grand Prix).

About 180 riders and horses from 38 countries are taking part in the five-day championship being held under the aegis of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, headed by Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani.
Saudi Arabia, UAE, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Khyrgistan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand and hosts Qatar are competing for top honours.
In view of the 2006 Asian Games which Doha will host next year, the main

focus on this year’s Show Jumping championship is on Asian countries.
QRF President Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani said that he was happy with the progress of the championship so far.
“The level of competition is pretty good and I am happy that Qatar has won the Four Team Cup today,” Sheikh Hamad said.
